An enduring relationship for more than 45 years

Charlestown High School (CHS) serves one of the most disadvantaged populations in Boston, with a student body facing steep challenges: 87% of students are designated as “high needs,” more than 25% have disabilities, and 42% are English Language Learners.* CHS is tirelessly dedicated to helping its students succeed in school and beyond.

Liberty Mutual Foundation supports Charlestown High School nonprofit partners including:
  • Boston Debate League
  • BUILD
  • City Year
  • Diploma Plus
  • HERC
  • Morgan Memorial
  • PIC
  • Scholar Athletes
  • uAspire
  • VSA-Mass

This year, we reinvigorated our relationship with CHS. We funded the development of its strategic plan and invested in more than a dozen programs that offer academic enrichment and support, job training, and other opportunities within the school. We are rallying Liberty Torchbearer volunteers at the school as well. We are proud to stand behind the leadership of CHS as it tirelessly builds up the lives of over 950 students.

Preparing under-resourced youth for successful careers

Workforce development programs like the ones our partner nonprofits provide, including technical and vocational training, apprenticeships in art and design, and hands-on business and retail experience at an upcycled bookstore, provide youth with a solid foundation for their employment, education, and personal growth.
